Lessons Learned
I recently wrote a blog post about the issue of having cameras on in interactive virtual learning events.
Although I find that video and the ability to read body language goes a long way to creating the right learning environment, a client brought to my attention that the article was insensitive to people who have legitimate personal reasons for not wanting to have their cameras on.
Furthermore, the article referenced a Quentin Tarantino movie clip that some found insensitive and hurtful.
Going forward, I will need to think through a wider lens to appreciate how a message may land with others, and I plan to solicit more input from my colleagues to help me with this.
The article was removed and I wish to sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by it.
