Leading Change – Perfection isn’t Needed
When leading a medium to large change in an organization, it’s generally known that there are 7 to 8 change management practices (e.g. building a sense of urgency, planning for quick wins, coaching for the expected behaviours, etc.) which need be applied to effectively deal with human side of the change.
In working with our clients in this area in the last while, we’ve learned that not all the practices need to be in place for a change to be successful. We’ve learned that if most are implemented (generally a minimum of 5), the probability of the change going well increases significantly.
The takeaway for us is that perfection is probably not realistic and nor is it absolutely needed to facilitate a change that has a favourable impact!
Kwela’s Leading Change change management workshop helps leaders master this key competency.
